It's the little things that matter!

When my kids were in grade school I would find all kinds of things in their pockets. They would find an earring on the playground and bring it home for me to wear. Thanks, but no thanks. They would find hair barrettes, beads, plastic rings, stickers etc. You name it, they have stuffed it into to their pockets to bring home to me. So you can imagine my surprise when my oldest son, Zach, he must have been 2nd or 3rd grade at the time, was out digging in the dirt and found a rock. Yep, he stuck it in his pocket and brought it home to give to me.

He handed me the rock and I asked him what he wanted me to do with it. He said he was giving it to me because it was a heart.

I keep it in a little basket on top of my dresser. I pulled it out today and asked him if he remembered giving it to me. When Zach saw it, he couldn't believe I still had it after all of these years. He told me he remembered finding it, under which tree he found it and what he was doing when he found it. He didn't know I still had it.

I love my rock!!!

What a story!! Isn't it fun when the kids see that we've kept things far longer than they'd ever imagined we would?? :)
Your rock far surpasses any "rock" (big multi-carot diamonds) jewelry stores sell!!

Thanks for sharing!! :)

Wendy, WHAT a precious story, and I would also never let go of that rock! ;) I have handprints in my garden that were once put in concrete around the basketball hoop when my sons were 10 & 12., and my husband put his prints in too. When we sold our house in PA to move to the south, a jackhammer was used and we brought all three pair of hands with us...they will forever keep them young to us. ;) Loved this sweet story on V'DAY! ;) ~CC Catherine
